Tour of Ethiopia

“Just wanted to drop you and your colleagues a quick note to say thanks so much for organising our trip to Ethiopia, it was awesome! The local agents were brilliantly organised, it all went very smoothly. Especially the camping trip in the mountains – that was the highlight with ridiculously amazing views! The guides and our driver were all great. So thank you again! I definitely recommend Ethiopia as a destination!”

Group trip to Egypt & Jordan

“I can only congratulate your company on implementing a really marvellous tour for us. Jaymie our guide/manager/leader/friend was so “on the ball”. She ensured every guide, coach, driver, donkey man, camel man, felucca man etc etc was there to meet us. Not once did we have any problems or delays. Jaymie summed up our group very fast – she suggested great local food restaurants (always economically priced), organised us to have two evening meals with local families, suggested slight changes to our schedule which allowed us to fit in some other activity. She knew markets and
the best dealers, gave us great general survival hints and imparted lots of historical info at the times we did not have a specialist guide. I really cannot speak highly enough of her and if she is an example of the quality of all your guides, then the company is on the right track. The crew were also fantastic on the Nile boat where there were only 27 passengers on board so it was like a personal cruise.

Many thanks for your work with our group – we have appreciated your efficiency and would be most happy to use your company again.

Borneo Honeymoon

“Thank you so much for organizing our trip. It was amazing! Sukau was our favourite destination – staying an extra night was a good decision. The lodge in Danum Valley was spectacular (accommodation and food).

The people from the local agency were fantastic. The whole trip was perfectly organized; all our drivers were on time, everyone was very friendly, they were helpful in finding photo opportunities and we ate really well etc. I would definitely recommend this trip and your agency to anyone planning a trip to Borneo. Thank you again.”

Family holiday to Morocco

“This holiday was originally just a flight booking on a whim back in January/Feb time when I found some really cheap flights to Marrakech with Ryan Air. Whenever we go on holiday as a family we always just train, boat or fly somewhere and then do our own thing when we get there. I usually end up doing all the research before we go and have the stress of doing all the organising when we get there. This time as troubles broke out in Libya and Tunisia I said to my husband we should book something so that if everything blows up in the Middle East we will be covered by travel insurance if we needed to cancel – so we did. That is when I looked on the Imaginative Traveller website, as my parents had used them before and recommended them to me. I looked at the pre-organised Morocco group holidays and our flights didn’t fit in with any of the dates then I noticed the “Tailor-made” button and clicked. I simply entered my flight details and where I would like to visit and within 48 hours I had a reply with an outline of a very good looking holiday. I looked at the price and was unsure as I had never spent that much in one go on a holiday up front – although as my husband reminded me, by the time we get back from holiday we have always spent about that much when it is added up,! So I went for it.

The holiday was absolutely magical for our family. From the minute we arrived at the airport in Marrakech and were met by our guide for the week we were thoroughly looked after – especially the children. I had no idea that we would have a guide and driver for the entire duration of our holiday, and as it slowly dawned on me the first evening I was amazed. For once in my life I didn’t have to do all the organising, it was all taken out of my hands – such a lovely feeling. Our driver and guide made us feel so relaxed and welcome. They knew all the best places to go but also listened to our thoughts on places to see and took us there. They helped us understand the language, culture and people.

The children learnt so much. All of the accommodation was lovely and the food really hit the spot. The children were very well catered for and never went hungry. We had some time to ourselves each day – although the children would have liked to stay with our guide and driver all the time if they could! The children gained so much confidence and life experience from the trip. A seven year old who would not stand at the front and speak to his class has since been back and given a presentation about Morocco and its people. The teachers were amazed and commented on his understanding of the people and culture etc., and his confidence in speaking.

We have never been so relaxed. There was not one single family argument for the whole holiday, in fact there was much family bonding, enjoyment, and laughter. We often reminisce about the time we had in the desert – which was our favourite bit. The most special part for me was the whole family lying on our backs under the star-filled sky in the silence of the desert listening to the Berber guide singing and playing his drums. I will never forget that moment and if I ever feel stressed now at work I shut my eyes and take myself back there – no one can ever take that memory away from me. Thank you – I will be travelling with you again at some point.”

Beach extension in Jordan

From a couple who took a group tour with Imaginative Traveller to the Middle East and then added on a tailor-made beach extension to the Dead Sea in Jordan:

“The tour was absolutely fantastic – Bashar, our tour leader was brilliant – the hotels wonderful and we have both fallen in love with the countries and want to go back!!! I also just want to thank you for our fantastic extension to the Dead Sea. The driver who took us to Jordan was absolutely fantastic – there was no hassle at the borders – he offered us stops and got us to the hotel in good time. The hotel and staff were absolutely stunning – everything was superb. The taxi back to Queen Alia airport for our return flight was also bang on time.

We can’t thank you enough for arranging this for us – everything was wonderful.”

Holiday in Vietnam

“We arrived home at about 22:45 last night. It was a superb holiday thank you, fully matching up to expectations and beating them in many ways. We particularly loved the time in Hanoi – possibly because it was our first experience of Vietnam and we were blown away by it. The couple of days at the homestay in Mai Chau and the chance to wander through the surrounding villages was absolutely not to be missed as was the old Vietnam. The junk on Halong Bay was luxurious and the crew could not have been more attentive to their total of 7 guests, which more than made up for the rather disappointing weather. The trip to the Mekong Delta, including the homestay there, was stunning. The floating markets and the quaintness of the island, the chance to see how the locals live, and in particular the hard work and warmest welcome by the farmer and his extended family were all superb memories. They are particularly keen to have more British tourists, by the way, as I think the French and Australians are wearing a bit thin!

The minibuses, guides and admin were also absolutely spot-on. It was so refreshing not to have to wait around or to be herded with scores of other tourists. In particular, Tam in Ho Chi Minh City was an excellent guide, as her English was the best, she was on our wavelength and although she was in her early 20′s, she was experienced enough to be able to do all of the admin in the background seamlessly.

We have some friends who are interested in holidaying in Vietnam, and I will definitely be relaying our experiences and recommending the Tailor-made option.”

Middle East School Trip

“The trip was excellent, really, really very good indeed and all the students were especially happy. The hotels were perfect – especially the King Hotel in Cairo, the Nefertari hotel in Abu Simbel was the only one that was looking a bit tired, but it’s beautifully situated pool more than made up for that. Transport was very efficient and food was generally good. But it was Ahmed Helmy who really made the trip. He was exceptional – the best guide I’ve ever had on this type of trip by miles. He was very knowledgeable but most importantly flexible and fun. All of the students also related very well to him. It was clear that he was also supported by a friendly and efficient team (we briefly met their Aswan staff). Please pass on the wholehearted thanks from us all to your local team. Ahmed was so good that I would be prepared to pay a substantial supplement for future trips if we could guarantee his involvement.

We take all 100 students in our second year away every year at Sussex (this year other trips were to Kerala and Vietnam). We usually repeat trips, especially when they go as well as this one. I’m on leave next year but in two years time I’ll probably be running this trip again and I’ll get in touch again then to make the arrangements.”
